We need an export run by a workspace owner. On Business+ or Enterprise Grid that can include private channels. You approve the channel list before anything is exported.
Are direct messages included?
Not by default. DMs are excluded unless you opt in, and HR, legal, leadership and board channels are excluded unless you ask otherwise.
Does Microsoft Teams data qualify?
Yes, on the same terms. Your admin exports channel and meeting chat through Microsoft Purview or the Graph API.
