Selling company data to AI labs: questions and answers.
Who buys it, what it pays, and how your staff and customers are protected.
Who buys company data?
AI labs building models and agents for business tasks such as customer support, sales, operations and software engineering. Public web text has very little of that kind of work in it, so labs license it from the companies that have it.
What does it cost to sell through Allied?
Nothing. Allied is paid by the buyer. You will not get an invoice from us.
How is the price set?
By volume, years of history, how much of each record is substantive work rather than chatter, and what labs are paying for similar data right now. The estimate on our homepage gives a rough range. The written offer is the real number.
When do I get paid?
By wire, 30 to 60 days after the lab accepts delivery. Some offers add a second payment if the same data is licensed to another lab.
Do I give up ownership of my data?
No. The lab gets a license to an anonymized copy. Your systems and original records do not change.
How are employees and customers protected?
Names, email addresses, phone numbers, account numbers and customer company names are removed or replaced before anything leaves our environment. You review a sample and approve it in writing before delivery.
Can we leave out certain channels or years?
Yes. You pick the systems, channels, mailboxes and date ranges. HR, legal and board material is excluded unless you ask for it to be included.
Is my company a fit?
Usually, if you have 25 or more employees and a year or more of history in Slack, Teams, email, a CRM, a help desk or a code host. Services, software, logistics, healthcare operations and financial services data are the most requested.
Is it legal to sell company data to AI labs?
Yes, if the license respects your customer contracts, employee policies and the privacy laws that apply to you. We review those before making an offer and narrow or anonymize the scope so delivery stays within them.
Will the lab know the data came from my company?
The lab knows your industry and company size. Your company name, staff and customers are removed from the delivered data, and the license prohibits any attempt to re-identify them.
How much work is this for my team?
An intake call, an admin granting read-only export access, and someone reviewing the anonymized sample. Allied runs the export, cleaning and delivery.
How long does a deal take?
One to two weeks from intake call to written offer, then two to four weeks from signature to delivery, depending on volume.
Can the same data be licensed more than once?
Yes. Licenses are non-exclusive by default, so the same data can go to more than one lab. Some offers include a payment for a second placement.
What happens to the data after delivery?
The lab may use it only to train and evaluate models, may not resell it, and must delete it at the end of the retention period in the license. Allied deletes its working copy once delivery is accepted.
